Session highlights
- Visual and vestibular systems help organise posture, tone, balance and movement
- These systems are relevant far beyond dizziness care
- Simple screening can reveal important missing pieces in assessment
- Targeted drills can improve movement quality, symptoms and confidence
Summary
Visual and vestibular systems play a central role in balance, orientation, gaze control, postural tone and movement confidence, yet they remain underused in mainstream rehabilitation. This talk makes the case that assessment and treatment of these systems deserves far wider use in physical therapy, not just in dizziness management, but across pain, movement dysfunction and performance. Grounded in biology and neuroscience, it will show why these systems matter, how to screen them simply, and how targeted drills can create meaningful changes in movement quality, symptom behaviour and clinical outcomes.
