Ruth Duncan is an educator, writer and professional advocate working across massage, manual therapy, pain science and therapist education. Her work focuses on helping the profession ask better questions about evidence, standards, safety and the language used to explain hands on care. She is Vice Chair of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation, SMTO, and Chair of the General Council for Massage Therapies, GCMT. Through these roles, she supports professional discussion around education, scope of practice, public protection and the development of more credible, evidence informed standards for therapists in Scotland and across the UK. Ruth is known for translating complex research into clear, practical language. Her writing and teaching explore pain, touch, interoception, fascia claims, contextual factors and therapeutic alliance, with a consistent focus on clarity, critical thinking and responsible practice.
